Seeing this game in action reminds me of one of the best Breakout clones a kid with a lot of shareware CDs could have; Blast Thru. This game had the cool ability to stack power ups, so you could have a ball that goes through bricks like butter while also having explosive properties. The best feature it had was an instant win power-up that shows up if you're stuck trying to get that one last brick.
