Tanuki-Jon, like any other tanuki, can disguise themself in any form! Depicted here is the merchant hiding in her representation of one of those tanuki statues.
Also, I saw the art of Tanuki-Jon by Philiippe and it's stuff like that that makes an artist's day. I'm very happy that someone took inspiration from my take on Tanuki-Jon.
