Time for story + world lore (this one might be a bit long):
Reese however, still have her doubts about this ring she gave away. When Jonah came home after this spring of good luck from his job, Reese secretly casted ‘Detect Magic’ to see if these doubts where something to worry……and she was right. What she saw was something she can only claim to be a magical aura from within the ring, and when Jonah slipped the ring onto his finger, the aura seeped into Jonah’s body, and seemed to have wrapped itself around the half-elf’s heart.
Reese’s own heart sank from this discovery. From her days as a Druid, she have seen magic spells go wrong, and warlocks making pacts with demonic creatures. But nothing in a case of a magical entity living inside an object to then possibly become a parasite, or maybe even take possession, over someone. She’s haven’t read any books about this, how can she know what she saw was true? The biggest question here is how Jonah would react if she told him about this. He never studied any magic nor knows how to cast any by himself, if she brings this up, he’ll most likely deny this questioning and move on with the day. So she decided to stay silent until the topic was brought up by her boyfriend…
