Drawtober Day 14: Dragon
One of the primary books series I read as a kid was the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffery and of course I had to draw one of its titular dragons for this day's prompt. This is Mieth, the dragon that I would impress(psychically bond with). Out of all the Pernese (said like Chinese but with Pern as the base) dragon colors, I chose a green due to the types of riders they Impress. Male dragons, colored Bronze, Brown, and Blue, impress male riders on hatching. Golds, the queen dragons, only impress female riders and are exceedingly rare. Greens, the other female color of dragons, usually impress female riders, but have on occasion been known to impress gay men, like myself(my username would be shortened down to P'kat in universe as a dragonrider). Honestly the way that writers like McCaffery and Rita Mae Brown just casually had LGBT characters in their books helped me accept my own gayness as something normal. McCafferey's optimistic view of science fiction also helped form my own tastes in that genre and how I build my OCs and their backstories.

I love it. I have been obsessed with Pern since I was young, at least the Ninth Pass area of books with Master Harper Robinton.
