Seeing that you finally reached the infamous letter part, had to check my copy again to make sure it had it. It does, and it does look like it was used, there's some blue discoloration on the opposite side of the paper, as well as someone writing the code for the music puzzle.
Also, I have to wonder how many children attempted to eat the letter for them to put that warning there.
